Reimagination of the Day: Michael Tyznik’s contribution to Richard Smith’s Dollar Redesign Project eliminates the $1 bill and replaces it with a $1 coin (hence Washington on the $5).
Further, Tyznik does away with the familiar mottoes and symbols (most notably, “In God We Trust”), and replaces them with a segment of the Bill of Rights (two amendments to a note).
Tyznik says:
I think one of the most important things about America is our Bill of Rights. I think it is probably the most important information any citizen can have, and for that reason, it is printed on the back of the bills.
Absolutely brilliant.

Congrats Tyz!  The internet is abuzz with your designs.  (Whats the deal with the bizarro clipped typeface in the upper right/left though?)

When help up to the light, it forms the unbroken denomination of the bill (i.e. $5) Pure genius.

This is long overdue. I was just having a discussion the other day with some foreign friends about American money and how the bills are not easy to tell apart on first glance. Also, they were confused as to the value of the dime, which does not have “ten cents” written anywhere on it. This seems like a stupid oversight.
Also, including a braille identifier on the bills is a fantastic thing. I really hope they do redesign the dollar.
